Why Play is Important?

Play is important in early childhood because:
  • Prepares them for school
  • Nurture social and language skills understanding and learning through touch, sight and sound.
  • Aids physical development of a child i.e. Obesity 
  • Nurture and co-ordinate the sensory and motor skills development of a child. 
  • Engaging in play activities involving rhyming words enhances his/her linguistic and vocabulary development. 
  • Hone the numerical and mathematical skills of a child through engaging them in play activities such as counting the number of objects in a stack, teaching them relationships like short and long, big and small, more and less and so on. 
  • Develops self-esteem by letting them take the lead while playing.
  • Develops a healthy and long-lasting relationship between a child and his/her parents. 
  • It also helps the parents gain an insight into the thought process of their child.
